Vicar's Update

Tuesday 12th December 2023

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.  And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6)

On Sunday (17th) we start our Christmas celebrations with our Carol Service at 6pm and will hear again these familiar words from the prophet Isaiah.   This is always a great service with choir, brass and lots of familiar carols for us all to sing.  It’s a really good opportunity to invite those who don’t usually come to Church so why not ask your spouse, children, neighbours and friends to come with you.   After the service we serve Mulled Wine and Mince Pies and any offers of donations of mince pies would be welcome.

The following weekend our service pattern is different because Sunday is also Christmas Eve:

  • On Sunday 24th our 9am Communion Service will take place as usual but there is no after service café or 10.30am service.
  • At 4.30pm on Christmas Eve we have our popular Carols, Christingle and Nativity service which is the biggest service of the season.  All children are encouraged to come dressed as a nativity character or to borrow a church costume when they arrive.   Do come in good time as it gets very busy!
  • Then at 11pm we celebrate Midnight Communion
  • On Christmas morning at 10.30am have a fun whole church Christmas Celebration with Communion.  Children of all ages are welcome to bring a small present to show to us all.

Over Christmas we will be having a special collection to be shared between Tearfund (for their appeal to help those in Gaza and the Middle East) and the Ealing Churches Winter Night Shelter (helping the homeless in Ealing).  You can give by cash or card at church or on the website here.

You may have noticed our beautiful new stable to house our crib characters in the Church entrance window.  Many thanks to Andrew Whadcoat who created this for us.

Have a good week
