Vicar's Update

Monday 22nd January 2024

It was good to see many of you yesterday as we completed our journey through the book of Romans.  We ended with Paul’s call to us all to share the good news of Jesus with others and were challenged to think about how we are doing and how we can be more open about our faith with others.

During the 10.30am service we also heard a powerful testimony from Jason and Monika Scott who told us how God had provided for them when their son Rufus collapsed last weekend.  A series of ‘God instances’ led to Rufus receiving an immediate response from Jason, Monika, their neighbours and paramedics and for that they and we give thanks to God.  If you missed the service, including their powerful testimony, you can catch up here.  If you have a good news story of God at work we’d love to hear from you and if possible include it in a future service.

We are grateful to all those who have offered to help volunteer at the Ealing Churches Winter Night Shelter when we run it here at St Stephens from 16/17 February to 22/23 March.  We still need a few more volunteers to help out either on Friday evenings or Saturday mornings (even a single shift would help) and particularly need a couple of drivers with large cars to come at 8.30 am for about an hour on March 9 and 16.  Please contact Sue Charlton sacharlton@btinternet.com if you can help in any way.

We were glad to know that the church heating was fixed last week and all enjoyed a much warmer Sunday – let’s hope and pray that it doesn’t break down again this winter.

After many months of treatment, Owen Yarrall will have his final session of chemotherapy this week.  To celebrate, the Yarrall family will be providing cakes at Café time next Sunday (28th).  If you are a regular at 10:30 please do come a bit earlier to help us mark this milestone together and praise God for his healing work in Owen’s life.

I look forward to seeing you on Sunday for our Communion services at both 9am and 10.30am – JAM and Youth Groups will run at 10.30am as usual.

Have a good week.

Steve
